Quetta, July 9 (NationPress) Numerous human rights organizations have denounced the forcible abduction of Baloch student Saeed Ubaidullah, who hails from the Panjgur district in Balochistan, by Pakistani security forces at the Islamabad Toll Plaza during a troubling rise in enforced disappearances in the area.
According to a statement released by Paank, the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement, "Saeed Ubaidullah, a BS Defence and Strategic Studies (DSS) student in his 5th semester at Quaid-e-Azam University, was forcibly taken by security personnel from the Islamabad Toll Plaza. His disappearance reflects a worrying trend of enforced disappearances."
The Baloch Voice for Justice also condemned the enforced disappearance of Saeed Ubaidullah, asserting that "Baloch students are at risk even in Islamabad, marking a serious violation of human rights."
Moreover, Paank previously reported that another student, Babul Rehmat, son of Rehmat Baloch and a resident of Gwadar, was illegally detained on July 6 and went missing from the seaview area of Balochistan due to actions by Pakistani security forces.
Additionally, the organization vehemently criticized the ongoing unlawful detention of human rights activist Abdullah Baloch, a member of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), who remains incarcerated in Gadani Jail following a peaceful protest in Hub district against the killing of Baloch human rights activist Zeeshan Zaheer. Paank has demanded his swift release and an end to the harassment faced by human rights defenders in Balochistan.
Simultaneously, the HRCP has raised concerns regarding the arrest of numerous civil society activists in Balochistan related to their advocacy work. They stated, "This includes HRCP member Abdullah Baloch, arrested in Hub, and Gulzar Dost, apprehended in Turbat. We urge authorities to release them unconditionally and remind the state of its obligation to protect the constitutional right to peaceful assembly."
Various human rights organizations in Balochistan have consistently spotlighted the repression perpetrated by Pakistani forces in the region, which encompasses violent raids on the residences of Baloch leaders and civilians, unlawful arrests, enforced disappearances, the 'kill and dump' policy, detention under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, and the filing of fabricated police cases.
