Quetta, Sep 6 (NationPress) Numerous human rights organizations vehemently condemned the extrajudicial slaying of a Baloch teenager by death squads supported by the Pakistan Army in Balochistan, which persist in targeting students, activists, and political adversaries throughout the province.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) reported that Izhar Mujeeb, a resident of Kech district, was fatally shot by the army's death squads in the Mand area earlier today.
According to reports, the armed groups opened fire on Izhar while he was at his shop in the morning. He was quickly transported to the hospital after suffering critical injuries, but tragically succumbed to excessive bleeding.
In response to this horrific event, the Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) stated, “The prevalence of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, assaults on political activists, and targeted assassinations in Balochistan are clear signs of the ongoing genocide against the Baloch people.”
The organization urged the international community to urgently address the rampant violence and oppression inflicted upon Baloch civilians by Pakistani forces.
As highlighted by Paank, the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement, this brutal execution of the Baloch teenager exemplifies a wider trend of violence perpetrated by the Pakistan Army-backed death squads.
In August 2025 alone, Balochistan experienced a notable increase in similar human rights abuses, including the extrajudicial killings of two young men, Naeem Shay and Iqbal Hakeem, in Khuzdar by these death squads, along with widespread enforced disappearances and the abduction of women and children, accompanied by harassment, as well as a government-imposed internet blackout limiting dissent and access to information.
“These documented incidents, which highlight hundreds of enforced disappearances and numerous killings in recent months, indicate a systematic campaign of state-sponsored terror,” remarked Paank.
The rights organization called on Pakistani authorities to immediately halt these operations, conduct independent investigations into Izhar's death and related cases, and ensure accountability for the perpetrators to prevent further degradation of human rights in Balochistan.
The people of Balochistan are currently advocating for their independence from Pakistan. Various human rights organizations from the region have repeatedly underscored the oppression by Pakistani forces, which includes violent raids on the homes of Baloch leaders and civilians, unlawful detentions, enforced disappearances, the infamous 'kill and dump' policy, detention under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, and the filing of fabricated police cases.
