Quetta, March 16 (NationPress) A devastating explosion targeted a convoy of Pakistani soldiers in Balochistan's Noshki, resulting in the death of at least five servicemen and injuring over ten others, as reported.

The explosion is believed to be a suicide attack, and officials anticipate that the number of casualties may rise.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist organization operating in the region, has asserted responsibility for this brutal ambush, stating that five Pakistani soldiers have been killed.

The blast took place on the highway connecting Noshki and Dalbandin. Those hurt were swiftly transported to Noshki Hospital.

“The convoy, which included seven buses and two vehicles, was attacked. Currently, there are five fatalities and over ten injuries. One of the buses was struck by a Vehicle Bourne IED (Improvised Explosive Device), possibly a suicide bomber, while the other faced an attack from a rocket-propelled grenade as it traveled from Quetta to Taftan,” an anonymous official reported.

BLA spokesperson Jiyand Baloch confirmed that a suicide bomber targeted one bus, followed by gunfire at another.

While the BLA claims a higher number of casualties, independent reports indicate at least seven deaths and a minimum of 21 injuries thus far.

Security forces have sealed off the area, and an investigation into the explosion is underway.

This suicide attack on the Pakistani Army convoy follows a recent incident where the BLA hijacked a train carrying over 400 passengers traveling from Quetta to Peshawar. A two-day standoff with security forces ended with the attackers being neutralized.

The provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KP) are currently experiencing a significant rise in targeted assaults against security personnel, with over 40 incidents involving gunfire, grenade attacks, suicide bombings, and IED blasts reported in the last 24 hours across both regions.
