Quetta, Sep 4 (NationPress) The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack targeting the Pakistani military personnel in the Zamuran area of Kech district in Balochistan. This attack resulted in the deaths of seven army personnel and left four others injured.

In a statement from the group's spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, the BLA also reported engagements with Pakistani Army personnel and their surveillance systems in the Kolwah and Bolan regions of the province.

“BLA freedom fighters executed a remote-controlled IED attack on a vehicle of the occupying Pakistani Army in Nawano, Zamuran yesterday, as the occupying forces were trying to advance in the area. The explosion resulted in the immediate deaths of seven Pakistani Army personnel, including Naib Subedar Farooq, Lance Naik Karim Dad, Lance Naik Hidayat, Sepoy Awais, and Sepoy Ali, while four others were seriously injured. The enemy's vehicle was completely destroyed,” read the BLA’s statement.

“In another operation, BLA freedom fighters attacked a post of the occupying Pakistani Army in the Madag Kalat area of Kolwah. During this assault, they targeted enemy positions with rockets and heavy weaponry, resulting in casualties and property damage to the enemy. BLA fighters also destroyed surveillance cameras set up by the Pakistani Army in the Shorkand area of Bolan,” the statement continued.

Previously, the BLA had announced an attack on the Pakistani Army in the Mangocher region of Kalat district last month, which resulted in the death of four military personnel.

“On August 24, at 10 am, our freedom fighters ambushed a patrol team of Pakistani forces in Mangocher Bazar, Kalat, using modern weapons, resulting in four personnel being neutralized on the spot,” the BLA stated.

Recently, spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch urged the international community to visit Balochistan to witness the realities on the ground, including mass graves of Baloch youth and the plight of mothers whose sons have been missing for decades.

He encouraged observers to see communities where freedom of speech is suppressed and villages that face military operations under the cover of darkness. He asked them to determine whether the organized resistance by militant groups against such oppression constitutes “terrorism or a defense of human dignity.”

The people of Balochistan are engaged in a struggle for independence from Pakistan. Various human rights organizations have consistently raised concerns about the repression faced by the people in the province, including violent raids on the homes of Baloch leaders and civilians, unlawful arrests, enforced disappearances, and a 'kill and dump' policy.

Point of View

The ongoing conflict in Balochistan calls for a careful examination of the situation. While the BLA's actions are condemned by the state, the underlying issues of human rights violations and demands for autonomy must not be ignored. It is essential to approach this matter with a balanced view, recognizing the complexities of the struggle without resorting to oversimplified narratives.
