Quetta, Dec 10 (NationPress) Prominent Baloch human rights advocate, Mir Yar Baloch, reached out to the international community on Wednesday, shedding light on the 'extreme brutality' exhibited by Pakistani forces, which includes air strikes and extensive military operations throughout Balochistan.
The human rights champion accused Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir of attempting to sell the region's minerals and rare earth resources, estimated to be worth trillions of dollars, to foreign entities.
This letter coincided with International Human Rights Day, observed on Wednesday, marking the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948.
“The occupational forces of Pakistan persist in employing extreme brutality, including air power and extensive military operations, to suppress the legitimate and indigenous aspirations of the Baloch people. Our fight is not one of chaos; it is a quest for a free Balochistan where equal rights are upheld, prosperity is shared, and no territory is utilized to foster terror or extremism,” stated Mir.
“Currently, under the radical and militarized regime of General Asim Munir, Pakistan is attempting to sell off trillions of dollars' worth of Balochistan's resources to foreign authorities while simultaneously executing large-scale military actions against the very inhabitants of this land,” he added.
Mir underlined that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, established to ensure dignity, freedom, equality, and justice, should not be regarded as 'privileges reserved for the powerful', but rather as inalienable rights for every individual.
“This day serves as a reminder to governments, international institutions, and global powers that silence in the face of injustice equates to complicity,” he stated.
The human rights advocate alleged that the Baloch people are being penalized 'not for violence, but for opposing illegal occupation, exploitation, theft, and plunder'.
Mir pointed out that the ongoing 'illegal presence of Pakistani and Iranian forces' in Balochistan is the fundamental cause of the severe and ongoing human rights abuses. Until this occupation is brought to an end, he asserted, 'justice will remain a mere slogan rather than a tangible reality.'
“We are fighting to preserve our identity, safeguard our resources, boundaries, culture, language, and existence, all of which are being systematically undermined by the regimes in Islamabad and Tehran,” Mir emphasized.
He urged the international community to transcend 'selective morality' and take immediate, concrete actions to halt the human rights violations in Balochistan.
