Dhaka, Dec 21 (NationPress) The interim government of Bangladesh, led by Muhammad Yunus, has been given a 24-hour ultimatum by the radical group Inquilab Mancha. They demand the swift arrest of those involved in the murder of their leader, Sharif Osman Hadi.
This ultimatum was declared following Hadi's funeral, where thousands of his supporters gathered at Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka, creating a significant flashpoint.
Leaders of the radical organization warned the interim government, stating, "If there is no government action regarding the apprehension of Sharif Osman Hadi's murderers by 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, we will conduct another sit-in protest at Shahbagh."
The group also requested that the renowned Shahbagh intersection be renamed 'Hadi Chottor', as reported by the prominent Bangladeshi publication The Dhaka Tribune.
Sharif Osman Hadi, a candidate for the Dhaka-8 parliamentary constituency in the upcoming general elections, was gravely injured during a shooting attack by unknown assailants in the Paltan area of Dhaka on December 12.
He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later transferred to Evercare Hospital due to his deteriorating condition.
As his health continued to decline, he was flown to Singapore for advanced treatment.
Hadi tragically passed away on Thursday night while receiving care at Singapore General Hospital. His body was returned to Bangladesh on Friday.
In the meantime, Muhammad Yunus has pledged to honor and promote the principles of the late radical leader, assuring supporters that Hadi's vision will endure beyond his death. Yunus stated he would realize Hadi's "dream" and ensure that it continues through generations.
"Dear Osman Hadi, we are not here to say goodbye. You live in our hearts, and as long as Bangladesh exists, you will remain in the hearts of all Bangladeshis. Your memory cannot be erased. Millions are here today in solidarity, while countless others across Bangladesh and abroad await news about Hadi," Yunus remarked, as reported by The Daily Star.
