Belarusian Leader Endorses Defense Strategy for 2026-2030

Minsk, Dec 13 (NationPress) Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has sanctioned the nation's defense strategy for 2026-2030.
The military-political landscape surrounding Belarus has evolved significantly in recent years, Lukashenko noted during a Security Council assembly on Thursday. He remarked that certain countries are persistently heightening tensions around Belarus.
Lukashenko emphasized that the hostile discourse from European nations towards Belarus is intensifying, suggesting ongoing efforts to undermine the country's internal political stability, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
The president affirmed that the Belarusian army poses no threat to others and serves as a tool for war prevention, and that in the face of aggression, it must be equipped to defend effectively.
Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin stated that the ratified defense strategy was crafted based on a thorough examination of the events of 2020 in Belarus and the ongoing Russian military actions in Ukraine.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Pavel Muraveiko, mentioned that one of the primary objectives of the strategy for the upcoming five years is to diminish military threats and avert conflicts.
"Additionally, a key focus of the strategy is preparing the nation for defense, which encompasses all domains from the economy to the military. This includes strategies for armed defense of the nation in various contemporary conflicts. The preparation of the national economy and the overall state for operations during military engagements is also part of the strategy," Muraveiko added.
