Islamabad, Aug 7 (NationPress) Tragedy struck in Pakistan's northwest South Waziristan district on Thursday morning when two individuals lost their lives and 14 others sustained injuries due to a blast targeting a police vehicle, according to local police sources.
The incident occurred around 9:58 am local time (0458 GMT) in Wana district, where an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated near the police vehicle, as reported by officials to Xinhua news agency.
The injured, which included police personnel and innocent bystanders, were promptly transported to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment, the sources indicated.
As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for this heinous act, and authorities have cordoned off the area for thorough investigations.
Just last Saturday, another explosion in the northwestern region resulted in the tragic deaths of five children and left 12 others injured. This explosion reportedly occurred when children interacted with the device, resulting in catastrophic consequences.
Among the 12 injured from that incident, most were children, including those who tragically lost their lives, as per reports from Xinhua news agency.
