Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 28 (NationPress) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), serving as India’s National Central Bureau (NCB) for INTERPOL, has adeptly managed the deportation of three individuals subject to INTERPOL Red Notices from India to Malaysia, according to an official announcement made on Wednesday.
The individuals who were deported are Sridharan Subramaniam, Pratifkumar Selvaraj, and Navindren Raj Cumarason.
This deportation took place on Tuesday, January 27, utilizing established INTERPOL cooperation channels in close collaboration with NCB-Kuala Lumpur.
The Malaysian authorities sought these individuals in connection with serious offenses linked to organized criminal activities, allegedly conducted with a common objective to engage in severe crimes aimed at securing material gain, power, or influence.
As stated, NCB-Kuala Lumpur notified NCB-New Delhi that immigration officials had denied entry to the Red Notice subjects upon their arrival from the United Kingdom at Mumbai International Airport.
Subsequently, Malaysian authorities formally requested India’s assistance to facilitate their deportation back to Malaysia for further legal action.
In response to this request, an escort team from the Royal Malaysia Police arrived in Mumbai on January 25. Thanks to the coordination and support provided by NCB-New Delhi, along with assistance from Indian immigration and other relevant agencies, the Malaysian escort team successfully returned the three suspects to Malaysia.
The CBI emphasized that the seamless execution of this operation underscores the strong bilateral partnership between India and Malaysia in law enforcement and illustrates the efficacy of INTERPOL channels in combating transnational and organized crime.
The agency also pointed out that INTERPOL Red Notices are a vital tool for international police collaboration, empowering law enforcement agencies globally to locate, detain, and facilitate the lawful repatriation of fugitives in strict accordance with national laws and due process.
