Deadline for Presidential Candidate Signature Collection Concludes in Belarus

Minsk, Dec 7 (NationPress) The phase for gathering signatures aimed at nominating presidential candidates has officially concluded in Belarus.

Since November 7, various pickets have been organized throughout Belarus to gather support for individuals aspiring to be presidential nominees.

To proceed, initiative groups are required to amass a minimum of 100,000 valid signatures, according to a report by the Xinhua news agency.

The Belarusian Central Elections Commission will undertake the verification of these signatures for authenticity within a period of 10 days.

Among those pursuing nomination are the current Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich, the chairman of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice Alexander Khizhnyak, individual entrepreneur Anna Kanopatskaya, and the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus Sergei Syrankov.

The upcoming presidential election is scheduled for January 26, 2025.
