DNCC Administrator Mohammad Azaz stated, "The Dengue Watch dashboard is much more than just a tool. It's a move towards transforming DNCC into a digitally driven, transparent, and accountable organization. By leveraging innovation, we can merge health, environment, and governance to create a smarter, healthier Dhaka."
UNDP Resident Representative in Bangladesh, Stefan Liller, emphasized UNDP's ongoing support for innovation in urban health management. He mentioned, "Supporting DNCC's innovation initiatives has been a privilege for UNDP. The Innovation Lab established in 2025 by DNCC and UNDP aims to be a center for intelligent, scalable, and citizen-focused urban solutions. The Dengue Watch Dashboard is one of its latest achievements, illustrating the potential of combining local leadership, data, and innovation."
This tool was presented during a keynote session that included a panel discussion with stakeholders from DGHS and other partners, attended by representatives from the health ministry, city corporations, development partners, and startups.
Dengue is a viral ailment caused by the dengue virus (DENV), transmitted to humans through the bites of infected mosquitoes. While there is no specific treatment for dengue, early detection and access to appropriate medical care can significantly reduce the mortality rates associated with severe dengue.
