Kuala Lumpur, Oct 27 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar engaged with his Japanese counterpart Motegi Toshimitsu during the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Monday. They deliberated on enhancing bilateral relations and committed to collaborative efforts in realizing the joint vision for the future of India-Japan cooperation over the next decade.
Post-meeting, EAM Jaishankar took to X to express, "Thrilled to meet FM Motegi Toshimitsu of Japan. We had extensive discussions on our bilateral relations. We are committed to collaborating on our joint vision for the upcoming decade of cooperation. We also exchanged views on the global landscape and our cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. Our dialogue showcased the strength and warmth of our Special Strategic and Global Partnership."
Earlier, EAM Jaishankar represented India at the East Asia Summit, where he delivered the national statement.
On October 21, EAM Jaishankar extended his congratulations to Motegi Toshimitsu on his new role as Japan's Foreign Minister, expressing eagerness to foster the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two nations.

Motegi previously held the position of Japan's Minister for Foreign Affairs from September 2019 until October 2021.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Sanae Takaichi on her election as Japan's Prime Minister, emphasizing his desire to fortify the strategic partnership between the two nations.
In a message on X, PM Modi stated, "Heartfelt congratulations, Sanae Takaichi, on your election as the Prime Minister of Japan. I look forward to collaborating closely with you to enhance the India–Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership. In response, Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi reaffirmed her dedication to collaborating with PM Modi to further strengthen the Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
