New Delhi, June 8 (NationPress) India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is set to embark on an official journey to France, the European Union, and Belgium from June 8 to 14. This visit is geared towards enhancing India's strategic alliances and investigating collaborative opportunities across various sectors, as stated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The primary goal of this trip is to reinforce existing relationships and bolster India's involvement with crucial European partners.

In both Paris and Marseille, Jaishankar will engage in bilateral discussions with Jean-Noel Barrot, the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. His itinerary in France will also feature meetings with high-ranking officials, think tanks, and media representatives.

According to the MEA, "India and France have marked 25 years of strategic partnership. Our connection with France is built on profound trust and dedication, with our nations collaborating closely across all areas of strategic and contemporary significance, while also sharing similar perspectives on many regional and global matters."

While in Marseille, Jaishankar will participate in the inaugural Mediterranean Raisina Dialogue, introducing a new layer to the India-France strategic dialogue.

The next phase of the visit will take him to Brussels for high-level discussions with the European Union. He is scheduled to hold a Strategic Dialogue with EU High Representative and Vice President Kaja Kallas and will meet prominent leaders from the European Commission and the European Parliament.

This visit comes on the heels of recent advancements in India-EU relations, particularly following the landmark visit of the EU College of Commissioners to India earlier this year.

As noted by the MEA, "The India-European Union strategic partnership has evolved over the years across numerous sectors and received a significant boost with the historic visit of the EU College of Commissioners to India in February of this year."

In Belgium, Jaishankar will conduct bilateral consultations with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot, along with meetings with other senior officials.

Topics of discussion are expected to revolve around enhancing trade and investment ties, green energy, technology, pharmaceuticals, and the diamond sector.

The ministry remarked, "India and Belgium enjoy warm and amicable relations, along with a robust economic partnership. The collaboration between our nations spans various domains including trade and investment, green energy, technology, pharmaceuticals, the diamond sector, and strong people-to-people connections."

Additionally, the EAM will engage with the Indian community in Belgium, reiterating India's commitment to its diaspora diplomacy.

The MEA expressed that this visit is "anticipated to further enrich India's friendly relations with the European Union, France, and Belgium, while also providing renewed impetus to ongoing cooperation across diverse sectors."
