Exit Polls Indicate PSD's Victory in Romania's Parliamentary Elections

Bucharest, December 2 (NationPress) - The Social Democratic Party (PSD) of Romania, a member of the ruling coalition, is anticipated to emerge as the leader in the parliamentary elections, as indicated by exit polls.
According to the exit polls, the PSD is expected to capture 26.1 percent of the vote for the Senate and 26 percent for the Chamber of Deputies, establishing a lead of approximately 7 percentage points over the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), as reported by Xinhua, referencing the Centre for Urban and Regional Sociology and ARA Public Opinion SRL.
The National Liberal Party (PNL), another coalition partner, is predicted to obtain 15.9 percent and 15.5 percent of the votes for the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, respectively. Meanwhile, the Save Romania Union (USR) is expected to closely follow with 15.6 percent and 15.5 percent.
Other parties, including SOS Romania and the Young People's Party, may also surpass the 5 percent threshold necessary to gain entrance to parliament.
More than 8,000 candidates vied for 332 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 137 seats in the Senate.
With over 18 million registered voters, the turnout was 53.33 percent, exceeding the participation rates of the last two elections held in 2016 and 2020.
