Fatalities Reported in 14-Vehicle Collision on Icy South Korean Highway

Anseong, Dec 2 (NationPress) A tragic accident on Monday led to the death of one individual and left five others injured after a truck lost control on an icy highway in Anseong, roughly 65 kilometers south of Seoul, as reported by police.

The incident transpired at around 6 a.m. on National Route 17, when a 1-ton truck skidded out of control, colliding with a median barrier. This initial impact caused the truck to crash into a 3.5-ton truck in an adjacent lane, triggering a chain reaction involving 12 additional vehicles traveling closely behind, according to reports from the Yonhap news agency.

The driver of the 3.5-ton truck, a man in his 60s, tragically lost his life, while five others suffered minor injuries.

Authorities confirmed that the driver of the 1-ton truck was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
