Fifty Residents Evacuated Due to Fire Incident in Eastern Singapore

Singapore, December 9 (NationPress) - A total of fifty individuals were evacuated after a fire incident occurred on Monday morning in a residential block located in eastern Singapore, according to officials.

The Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) stated that they were notified of the fire at a Housing and Development Board (HDB) block on Tampines Street around 6:40 A.M., as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Upon arrival, SCDF personnel observed black smoke billowing from a unit situated on the 13th floor.

Images released by the SCDF depicted burned walls within the room and damage to the corridor adjacent to it. As a safety measure, approximately 50 residents from nearby units were evacuated.

Two individuals from the affected unit managed to evacuate prior to the SCDF's arrival. They were checked by an SCDF paramedic for smoke inhalation but chose not to be transported to the hospital.

The fire, which involved the contents of a bedroom, has since been extinguished.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are currently ongoing.

HDB flats are public housing units developed and managed by the HDB, Singapore's public housing authority. Renowned for their affordability and community-oriented design, these units now accommodate over 80 percent of Singapore's population.
