Five Individuals Hurt in Philippine Navy Helicopter Incident

Manila, Dec 5 (NationPress) Five individuals, including two pilots, were injured following a crash involving a Philippine Navy helicopter on Thursday at an airport located in Cavite province, south of Manila, according to a naval spokesperson.

Commander John Percie Alcos reported that an AgustaWestland AW 109 helicopter went down on Thursday morning at Sangley Point airport. The aircraft had taken off for a functional check flight after undergoing maintenance, as stated by the Xinhua news agency.

He mentioned that both pilots and three crew members aboard experienced minor cuts, bruises, and a minor fracture.

"All personnel on board, despite their minor injuries, were conscious and were safely transported to a military hospital for medical evaluation," Alcos stated.

An investigation is currently in progress to ascertain the cause of the incident, he added.

The Philippine Civil Aviation Authority issued a brief statement indicating that all landing and take-off operations at the airport have been halted due to a disabled military aircraft on the runway.
