Floods in Malaysia: Six Lives Lost and Over 130,000 Displaced

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 2 (NationPress) Flooding in Malaysia has resulted in six fatalities as of Monday, with the most recent victims being two elderly individuals who tragically drowned in Kelantan state while looking after their livestock, according to officials.

The number of flood victims has reached 134,524, who are currently being accommodated in 613 flood relief centres as of 11 a.m. local time, as reported by the Xinhua news agency, citing the country's social welfare department.

The areas that have been most severely affected are Kelantan and Terengganu, located on the east coast of the country.

In response, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the government has allocated additional funding for post-flood recovery efforts, which are anticipated to commence in the middle of this month.

Additionally, the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry has stated that it is evaluating suitable forms of assistance to alleviate the hardships faced by farmers impacted by the floods, which may include financial aid and support for recovery after the floods.
