Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Faces Rising Measles Cases in Children

Hanoi, Dec 3 (NationPress) The southern city of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam has recently witnessed a notable rise in measles infections, particularly affecting children, as per the city's Department of Health on Tuesday.
The city documented 319 new measles cases last week, marking a staggering 58.1 percent increase over the average from the previous four weeks, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.
The rise in new cases has been particularly evident among children aged 11 to 14 and infants aged six to nine months.
Since the beginning of this year, there have been a total of 2,438 new measles infections reported in the city, resulting in four fatalities.
In response to this alarming situation, Vietnam's Ministry of Health initiated a nationwide campaign on August 22 this year to administer measles vaccines to children.
