What Happened at LIMA 2025? Union Minister Sanjay Seth Meets Malaysian PM Ibrahim

Langkawi, May 20 (NationPress) India made a significant mark at the 17th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2025), where Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth had a meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim during the event's grand opening ceremony.

The exhibition kicked off on Tuesday with an impressive opening ceremony that saw the attendance of global leaders in defence and aerospace.

Emphasizing the importance of India's role, the Indian High Commission in Malaysia shared on social media about the nation's participation in this critical event.

“India at LIMA-2025: The Hon’ble Minister of State for Defence (Raksha Rajya Mantri) of India, Sanjay Seth, met with YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim, Hon’ble Prime Minister of Malaysia, during the remarkable opening ceremony of LIMA 2025. PM Ibrahim requested Sanjay Seth to extend his warm greetings and best wishes to his esteemed friend, PM Narendra Modi. In his inaugural remarks, PM Ibrahim acknowledged India’s participation, referring to it as one of Malaysia’s key neighbours at LIMA 2025,” the official X account of India in Malaysia stated.

LIMA, recognized as one of the leading defence and aerospace exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific, is taking place in Langkawi from May 20 to 24. As part of India's representation, a dedicated Indian Pavilion is set to be officially inaugurated by Minister Sanjay Seth.

This pavilion will highlight India’s expanding defence manufacturing capabilities, showcasing the nation's commitment to self-reliance and technological advancement.

Several major Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limited, BEML, and Gliders India Limited, are present as part of the Indian delegation. Additionally, leading Indian private defence companies are displaying cutting-edge indigenous systems in both aerospace and maritime sectors.

The Indian defence forces are represented at LIMA 2025 by key operational assets, such as a Dornier aircraft and an Indian Naval Ship, demonstrating the nation’s defence readiness and maritime capabilities.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, Minister Sanjay Seth is anticipated to engage in bilateral discussions with Malaysia’s Minister of Defence, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin, aimed at enhancing strategic and defence collaboration between the two countries.

The defence partnership between India and Malaysia is robust under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework, which was established during Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to India in 2024.

Defence and security cooperation serves as a cornerstone of this evolving bilateral relationship.

First held in 1991, LIMA has developed into a pivotal platform for international defence dialogue, industry collaboration, and technology exchange. India's participation at LIMA 2025 is expected to bolster its regional presence and create new opportunities for cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.
