India's Consul General in Dubai, Dr. E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, called on Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, in a high-level diplomatic engagement aimed at deepening the India–Ras Al Khaimah partnership across trade, investment, business, people-to-people ties and cultural exchanges. The visit signals renewed momentum in bilateral engagement between India and one of the UAE's fastest-growing emirates.

During the meeting with Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, discussions centred on 'exploring avenues for further deepening the longstanding and multifaceted India–Ras Al Khaimah partnership, including in the areas of trade, investment, business, people-to-people ties and cultural exchanges,' according to the Consulate General of India in Dubai. Consul General Reddy thanked His Highness for the continued support extended to the Indian community in Ras Al Khaimah and reaffirmed the Consulate's commitment to further strengthening these close ties.

Engagement with the Chamber of Commerce

Reddy also held a meeting with H.E. Mohamed Mosbbeh Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Discussions at that meeting focused on strengthening India-UAE economic and commercial relations, with particular emphasis on promoting trade, investment and greater engagement between the business communities of both sides. The chamber is considered a key gateway for Indian enterprises seeking a foothold in the emirate's diversifying economy.

Talks with Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone

In a third round of talks during the visit, the Consul General met officials of the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), including Puneet Jain, Chief Strategy Officer, and Mohammed Al Blooshi, Strategic Partnership Manager. The Consulate noted that the meeting 'covered matters of mutual interest and avenues for further strengthening India–Ras Al Khaimah economic and business ties.' RAKEZ is among the region's most active free zones, hosting a substantial number of Indian businesses.

Broader Context and What It Signals

The flurry of engagements in a single visit — spanning the emirate's top political leadership, its chamber of commerce and its primary economic zone — reflects an increasingly structured approach to the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which came into force in May 2022. Ras Al Khaimah, often overshadowed by Dubai and Abu Dhabi in bilateral narratives, has been steadily positioning itself as an investment and manufacturing hub, making it a natural partner for Indian businesses looking beyond the established corridors. This is the latest in a series of outreach visits by Indian consular officials to UAE emirate-level leadership, underscoring New Delhi's strategy of deepening sub-national ties within the broader India-UAE framework. The large Indian diaspora in Ras Al Khaimah — a significant constituency for the Consulate — also featured in the discussions, with the Consul General acknowledging local support for the community.
