Riyadh, April 30 (NationPress) The Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Suhel Khan, conducted a visit to the Mina and Arafat camps on Wednesday to assess the Haj preparations and engage in discussions regarding transportation logistics in the Mashaer area of the Kingdom.

He was joined by Indian Consul General Fahad Suri, the Consul Haj, Haj Coordinator, representatives from the service provider company, and other officials.

Earlier, the Indian Ambassador visited the Indian Haj Mission office in Madina to evaluate the Haj arrangements. He also toured the medical facilities created for the pilgrims and interacted with doctors and other staff.

The first group of pilgrims from India received a warm welcome at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport in Madina, signifying the commencement of their holy journey for Haj, as noted by the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah on X.

On Tuesday, officials from both India and Saudi Arabia extended a cordial reception to the initial batch of Indian Haj pilgrims upon their arrival.

According to Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, a total of 1,22,518 pilgrims from India will undertake the sacred journey during Haj 2025, with the first two flights arriving today, carrying 288 pilgrims from Lucknow and 262 pilgrims from Hyderabad.

Upon arrival, the pilgrims were greeted warmly, and their entry procedures were executed swiftly and efficiently. They were subsequently transported to their accommodations in Madina.

“Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India is dedicated to ensuring a smooth and seamless Haj pilgrimage for all. We pray for a safe, blessed, and spiritually enriching pilgrimage,” Rijiju stated.

The government, under Prime Minister Modi, has prioritized the annual pilgrimage for Indian Muslims.

Thanks to these efforts, India’s allocation has gradually increased to 175,025 in 2025 from 136,020 in 2014.

The Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA) oversees the arrangements for the majority of the quota assigned to India, which is 122,518 this year.

All essential arrangements, including flight schedules, transportation, Mina camps, accommodation, and additional services, have been organized and completed according to Saudi requirements and timelines.

More than 52,000 remaining slots of the quota were typically allocated to private tour operators. Due to modifications in Saudi guidelines, over 800 Private Tour Operators were consolidated into 26 legal entities known as Combined Haj Group Operators (CHGOs) by the Ministry of Minority Affairs this year.

Point of View

The government's proactive measures demonstrate a commitment to facilitating a spiritual journey for Indian Muslims. The increasing allocation of slots indicates a recognition of the pilgrimage's significance. As we focus on the logistical aspects, it is essential to acknowledge the cultural and spiritual dimensions of this sacred journey.
