London, June 10 (NationPress) As Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrates 11 impactful years in charge of the Union government, members of the Indian diaspora in the United Kingdom are stepping forward to share their admiration and pride in the nation’s advancements under his leadership.
From professionals in London to community leaders in Slough, a common sentiment is evident: India’s global prominence has soared to remarkable levels.
They attribute this growth to PM Modi’s dedication to steady governance, lifting millions from dire poverty, enhancing India's Defence capabilities, and establishing the country as a significant economic and cultural entity on the global scene.
In an interview with IANS, Indian-origin cancer researcher Vishal stated, “In the past 11 years, extreme poverty has significantly diminished, and India has ascended to become the fourth-largest economy. This is a powerful indicator of growth and governance.
“The transformations are evident; people now regard us with respect. There are numerous advantages that accompany becoming the fourth-largest economy. Extreme poverty in India has decreased substantially from 27.1 percent in 2011-12 to merely 5.3 percent in 2022-23, paving the way for better job prospects.
“Moreover, we are making notable advancements in Defence, concentrating on exports. Our purchasing power has also risen dramatically. We are performing exceptionally well, and I hope PM Modi remains as Prime Minister for two more terms to witness even greater developmental initiatives.”
Alok Gupta, Co-Founder and Director of the Indian Diaspora in the UK (IDUK) Group, highlighted India's leadership in digital transformation, the successful hosting of the G20 Summit, and the push for Defence self-reliance through the 'Make in India' initiative.
“Whether it’s the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) or vaccine export, the world is now observing India. We have surged from the tenth to the fourth position among the world’s economies, overtaking Japan. India is the fastest-growing economy worldwide.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, we not only produced vaccines for our citizens but also exported them. Under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, we are manufacturing everything domestically, including Defence equipment. In the recent conflict with Pakistan, we utilized indigenous equipment. It’s commendable how we are emerging as an exporter in the Defence sector.
“Hosting the G20 Summit in 2023 showcased our status as a world power. Digital advancements like UPI are further milestones that instill pride in us.”
Many members of the diaspora also praised India’s firm stance against terrorism, especially in light of the recent attacks in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. They noted how the abrogation of Article 370 has transformed Kashmir, boosting tourism and local livelihoods.
Another member of the diaspora residing in the UK remarked, “We are emerging as a world power. PM Modi has provided stable governance for two terms and is now in his third term. His leadership is remarkable. Additionally, he has fostered a cultural exchange, as demonstrated by Saudi Arabia embracing yoga. Recently, India has risen to become the world's fourth-largest economy.”
Throughout interviews and public forums, the diaspora conveyed a unified belief: Under PM Modi’s leadership, India has not only rediscovered its civilizational pride but has also emerged stronger, prouder, and more united on the global stage.
