Has India Proven Its Capability to Target Terrorist Infrastructure with Precision?

New York, May 25 (NationPress) Operation Sindoor has demonstrated to Pakistan that India possesses the ability to strike at terrorism infrastructure with a high level of accuracy, sending a clear warning that any terrorist actions against New Delhi will have repercussions, stated Congress leader Shashi Tharoor during his delegation's visit to the US to convey an anti-terrorism message.

"We are committed to establishing a new baseline regarding Pakistan's terrorist assaults on India," he remarked at the commencement of a mission involving members of both the BJP and opposition parties.

"Those responsible for acts of terror must be brought to justice, and we will not cease our pursuit of those behind this recent atrocity," the Congress leader affirmed.

Tharoor elaborated on India's attempts, stating, "We have utilized everything from international dossiers to formal complaints, yet to no effect," which justified India's direct action against terrorist assets in Pakistan and the Pakistani-occupied regions of Kashmir.

At the Indian consulate, he mentioned that the delegation would engage with government officials, legislators, think tanks, and influential foreign policy analysts, as well as interact with the media and public.

He emphasized the need for global solidarity against terrorism, detailing India's struggles with terrorism and the necessity of taking action. The team plans to visit Guyana, Panama, Colombia, and Brazil before returning to the US for meetings in Washington.

In a unified stand against terrorism, the delegation is led by Tharoor from the opposition Congress Party and comprises Shambhavi from the Lok Janshakti Party, Sarfaraz Ahmad from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, and Milind Murli Deora from the Shiv Sena.

"I represent an opposition party, not the government," Tharoor clarified regarding his role. Other team members include Shashank Mani Tripathi, Bhubaneswar Kalita, and Tejasvi Surya of the BJP, alongside GM Harish Balayogi from the Telugu Desam Party, a National Democratic Alliance ally.

Following the massacre of 26 individuals in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam by terrorists from 'The Resistance Front', affiliated with the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, India targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan.

Pakistan subsequently retaliated against India, attacking civilian sites such as places of worship, including gurudwaras, temples, convents, and hospitals, which escalated the conflict.

The MPs began their trip at the 9/11 Memorial at the World Trade Centre, paying tribute to the 2,731 victims of the most devastating terrorist attack in the US, which has ties to Pakistan.

A significant number of diaspora members and others joined the MPs in laying flowers at the memorial.

Osama bin Laden, the leader of al-Qaeda responsible for the attack, was granted asylum and protection by the Pakistani government, and was ultimately killed in Abbottabad near Pakistani military installations by the US Navy's elite SEALs.

Tharoor remarked that the visit to the 9/11 memorial serves as a reminder of a shared struggle, and as a gesture of solidarity with the victims.

The delegation conveyed a strong message that they are in a city still marked by the memories of that brutal terrorist attack, in light of yet another assault in India.

Tharoor stated, "The Pahalgam attack aimed to disrupt the normalization process in Kashmir and undermine the well-being of its inhabitants. Their broader objective was to incite a larger backlash across India by framing it as a religious issue, targeting victims based on their faith."

However, it failed due to "a remarkable sense of unity transcending religious and other divides in India that some have attempted to exploit," he noted.

He highlighted that the TRF claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam murders, and India has informed the UN Security Council's anti-terrorism sanctions committee about the TRF.

Shortly after the Pahalgam incident, the Security Council issued a statement condemning the attack, but China and Pakistan conspired to prevent the TRF from being named, indicating Islamabad's complicity.

The Indian consulate mentioned that the MPs also engaged with notable think tanks, academics, and media to "emphasize the strategic partnership between India and the US and reinforce cooperative efforts to address the evolving threat of terrorism."

"The delegation communicated India's steadfast message of zero tolerance and collective national determination against terrorism," it concluded.
