Singapore, May 27 (NationPress) The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation from India, headed by Member of Parliament Sanjay Kumar Jha, concluded its visit to Singapore after engaging in comprehensive discussions with the nation’s leadership to highlight the importance of Operation Sindoor and the 'new normal' in India's counterterrorism approach.
Throughout the trip, the delegation conferred with significant figures such as Singapore's Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs, Edwin Tong; Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs, Sim Ann; and Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State for Education, Sustainability, and the Environment.
Additionally, interactions took place with Singaporean Members of Parliament, prominent business and community leaders, as well as representatives from think-tanks, academia, media, and the Indian diaspora.
During these discussions, they articulated India's position regarding the aftermath of the terror attack in Pahalgam, Operation Sindoor, and the 'new normal' in India's approach to countering terrorism.
The delegation outlined a new standard in India's anti-terrorism efforts, asserting that India would respond decisively to any terrorist assault, would not yield to nuclear intimidation, and would treat state-sponsored terrorism and its orchestrators without distinction. They sought Singapore's ongoing support in combating terrorism.
"In our engagements with Singaporean officials from various sectors, we emphasized the new standard in India's counterterrorism policy: PRECISE, RESPONSIBLE, and UNFLINCHING. Our meeting with Edwin Tong was particularly enlightening. We greatly appreciated our exchanges with the Indian community in Singapore, which reflect our shared resilience, unity, and steadfast solidarity against terrorism," stated Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee.
Amid a busy schedule, Banerjee also visited the INA Memorial at Singapore's Esplanade Park, currently under renovation.
"I offered my respects from outside; even at a distance, it was a moment of SOLEMN REFLECTION. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was an extraordinary statesman, a fearless patriot, and a pivotal figure in India’s struggle for freedom; his legacy remains alive in our hearts, unaffected by time. I also prayed at the Ramakrishna Mission in Singapore, a symbol of spiritual illumination and service," he shared on X.
The all-party delegation also featured Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, John Brittas, Pradan Baruah, Hemang Joshi, former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, and former Ambassador Mohan Kumar.
Following their time in Japan and Singapore, the delegation is set to travel to Indonesia and Malaysia.
