How is India's National Consensus and Collective Resolve Against Terrorism Highlighted in South Africa?

Johannesburg, May 28 (NationPress) The Indian all-party Parliamentary delegation, spearheaded by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SP) Supriya Sule, convened on Wednesday to discuss the backdrop of terror incidents in India, including the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. They communicated India’s united message of zero tolerance for terrorism during a meeting with Deputy Chairperson of the National Council of Province (NCOP) of South Africa, Poobalan Govender, and other members of the South African Parliament.

The delegation also engaged with Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo, the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, alongside other officials.

Earlier, the group led by Sule met with the Indian community in South Africa, reaffirming India’s strong and united stance against terrorism.

The Indian High Commission in South Africa shared on X, "All-party delegation led by MP Supriya Sule interacted with the Indian community in South Africa. They underscored India’s national consensus and collective resolve against terrorism in all its forms, commending the unwavering support of the Indian diaspora to eradicate the scourge of terrorism."

The community interaction in Johannesburg marked the commencement of the delegation's official engagements in South Africa.

According to a statement from the High Commission of India in Pretoria, during this interaction, the delegation reiterated India's zero-tolerance policy towards cross-border terrorism and emphasized the nation's commitment to counter-terrorism without escalating regional tensions.

They shared that Operation Sindoor, conducted by India in response, was calibrated, targeted, and proportionate, showcasing India’s dedication to combating terrorism without heightening tensions. They stressed the necessity to cease differentiating between the terrorists and their backers, dismantling the cross-border terrorism infrastructure that has operated against India for decades.

The delegation received a warm welcome from Indian High Commissioner to South Africa, Prabhat Kumar, on Tuesday, who briefed them on key aspects of the India-South Africa bilateral relationship and future engagements.

This all-party delegation led by Supriya Sule includes BJP leaders Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Thakur, and V. Muraleedharan, Congress leaders Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma, Telugu Desam Party's Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, Aam Aadmi Party leader Vikramjeet Singh Sawhney, and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin.

The delegation is part of India's global diplomatic outreach to emphasize the importance of Operation Sindoor and India's ongoing fight against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism, following a successful visit to Qatar.

Prior to this, they were welcomed by Indian Consul General, Ruby Jaspreet in Cape Town, where they discussed matters with various South African ministers and parliamentarians.
