Tehran, Feb 19 (NationPress) Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei stated that the United States’s “foolish” strategies regarding Gaza and Palestine “will lead nowhere.”
He noted, “Those who asserted they would quickly obliterate resistance are now receiving their captives from resistance fighters in small groups while releasing numerous Palestinian prisoners in exchange.” This was mentioned during a meeting with Ziad al-Nakhalah, the visiting Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, as reported by the Xinhua news agency quoting Khamenei’s official site.
Khamenei emphasized that as “global public opinion currently favors Palestine,” no plan can succeed without the approval of the resistance and the people of Gaza.
In response, al-Nakhalah expressed gratitude for Iran’s unwavering support for the resistance in Gaza, claiming it has achieved “significant victories” over the United States and the West despite the disparity in power.
Recently, US President Donald Trump suggested relocating the Palestinian population of Gaza to neighboring nations, indicating that those who leave would not be permitted to return.
This proposal, which has garnered strong backing from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has been met with persistent regional and international backlash.
Earlier, on February 10, Netanyahu mentioned that Israel is examining Trump’s “revolutionary, creative vision” for the Gaza Strip, which Trump is “very determined to implement.”
Netanyahu stated, “This plan opens many avenues for us,” during a cabinet meeting after his return from Washington to Israel, according to a release from his office.
“For an entire year, we have been told that the ‘day after’ (in Gaza) must involve the PLO (the Palestine Liberation Organization), the Palestinian Authority … President Trump has introduced a radically different vision, one that is far more beneficial for the State of Israel,” Netanyahu added.
