Tehran, Feb 8 (NationPress) Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei held a meeting on Saturday with high-ranking leaders from Hamas, where they exchanged views on the situation in Gaza and other related topics.
As per a release from Khamenei's official website, the Iranian leader welcomed Mohammad Darwish, Chairman of Hamas's Shura Council, Khalil al-Hayya, the acting Hamas leader, and Zaher Jabarin, the Hamas leader in the West Bank, along with other officials.
Khamenei hailed the ceasefire agreement established between Hamas and Israel in Gaza last month as a significant achievement and urged the Muslim community and all supporters of resistance to assist in alleviating the hardships faced by Gazans, according to the statement.
He emphasized that Iranians are unwavering in their commitment to defend Palestine and support the Palestinian populace, asserting, “The issue of Palestine is a central concern for us, and the victory of Palestine is inevitable.”
Khamenei also rejected U.S. threats against Iran, stating that they do not influence the perspectives of the Iranian people, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
The Hamas officials provided Khamenei with an update on the current circumstances in Gaza and the West Bank, highlighting the successes achieved and expressing gratitude towards Iran and its citizens for their unwavering support.
This visit to Tehran marks the third phase of the Hamas delegation's regional tour, following visits to Egypt and Turkey.
