Israel Strengthens Military Forces Along Syrian Border

Jerusalem, Dec 6 (NationPress) The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has significantly enhanced its military presence in the Golan Heights, an area annexed by Israel, on Friday due to the advancing rebel forces in Syria.
In the last 24 hours, hundreds of soldiers have been reassigned from various training units to Division 210, which manages the border with Syria, according to a military spokesperson during a briefing.
This redeployment highlights Israel's worries regarding the intensification of the Syrian conflict, which raises the risk of possible incursions across the border, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Additionally, the IDF revealed plans to conduct a military exercise later on Friday in both the Golan Heights and the Jordan Valley. The objective of the drill is to 'improve readiness and preparedness,' as stated by the military.
The Israeli Security Cabinet is set to meet on Saturday evening and again on Sunday to evaluate the situation in Syria, a government official confirmed to Xinhua under the condition of anonymity.
On Friday morning, state-owned Kan TV reported that troops loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had retreated from the city of Inkhil, located approximately 20 kilometers from the Israeli border.
