Jerusalem, Feb 9 (NationPress) The Israeli military announced that its air force executed an airstrike on a Hezbollah facility located in the Bekaa Valley of eastern Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) detailed in a statement released on Saturday that the airstrike targeted a strategic weapons production and storage site affiliated with Hezbollah.
The IDF asserted that activities occurring at this site represented a significant breach of the established understanding between Israel and Lebanon.
Furthermore, the statement emphasized that the IDF remains vigilant in eliminating any threats to Israel and will thwart any efforts by Hezbollah to re-establish its military capabilities, in line with the ceasefire agreements, according to reports from the Xinhua news agency.
The ceasefire, which began in November 2024, concluded a year-long conflict involving Hamas and Israel. In spite of this truce, Israeli military operations have continued sporadically in Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah positions that allegedly breached the ceasefire.
The Lebanese government has consistently condemned these Israeli operations. After Israel missed the initial withdrawal deadline from southern Lebanon, the authorities extended the deadline to February 18.
On Thursday, Israeli warplanes reportedly conducted numerous attacks on the heights of the eastern Mountain Range and the Baalbek region in eastern Lebanon, as detailed by the National News Agency (NNA), alongside several airstrikes on locations in southern Lebanon.
Prior to these strikes, Israeli aircraft were observed executing low-altitude maneuvers over the town of Rashaya and the western Bekaa region, while maintaining higher altitudes over the city of Hermel and northern Bekaa.
Reports also indicated sightings of Israeli jets over Beirut and its neighboring areas.
