Tehran, June 21 (NationPress) In a series of Israeli attacks on Iran spanning the last nine days, more than 400 Iranians have lost their lives, with an additional 3,056 individuals sustaining injuries, as reported by Hossein Kermanpour, the head of the Iranian Health Ministry's public relations department, on Saturday.
"Of the injured, 2,220 have been treated and released from Ministry of Health facilities, while 232 received immediate care at the attack sites," Kermanpour stated in a post on the social media platform X.
Most of the casualties reported are civilians, including 54 women and children who have died as a result of the Israeli offensive.
As the conflict escalates, the Iranian Red Crescent Society reported that one of its rescue helicopters was damaged due to a "treacherous Israeli attack."
Beginning on June 13, Israel initiated a series of extensive air raids targeting Iranian nuclear and military locations, resulting in the deaths of several high-ranking commanders and nuclear scientists. In retaliation, Iran conducted missile and drone strikes on Israeli territory overnight, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.
In statements issued by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), it was mentioned that three senior Iranian commanders were killed overnight.
Among those was Saeed Izadi, the commander of the Palestine Corps within the Quds Force, a segment of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The IDF confirmed Izadi's death in an airstrike in Iran's Qom province.
Izadi played a key role in coordinating efforts between Iran and Hamas, and was implicated in orchestrating the October 7th massacre, with prior knowledge of the event.
In another statement, the IDF reported the air force's successful strike on Behnam Shahriyari, commander of the Quds Force's weapon transfer unit in western Iran.
Shahriyari was responsible for overseeing "weapons transfers from Iran to its proxies" throughout the Middle East.
According to the IDF, Shahriyari managed the annual transfer of hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars to various terrorist groups through a complex network of shell companies, money changers, and couriers.
Earlier on Saturday, the IDF also announced the death of Aminpour Joudaki, the commander of the second unmanned aerial vehicle brigade of the IRGC Air Force, who was targeted in southwestern Iran.
