Nagpur, Nov 23 (NationPress) Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday underlined the importance of leveraging technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance agricultural productivity and increase farmers' income. Speaking at a workshop dedicated to AI in agriculture during Agrovision 2025, Gadkari stated: "The establishment of a body of farmer producer companies is essential for the advancement and welfare of farmers. Through these companies, farmers will gain access to agricultural machinery, including tractors and harvesters, which will facilitate loan repayments."
The minister further asserted that the challenges faced by farmers should be addressed at the commissionerate level within districts via the farmer producer company framework.
This workshop was organized by Agrovision, of which Nitin Gadkari serves as the chief patron. He also highlighted several initiatives undertaken by Agrovision aimed at enhancing agriculture and promoting crop diversification in Maharashtra.
At Agrovision 2025 in Nagpur, Mahindra and Mahindra displayed a variety of tractors powered by alternative fuels. These tractors were ingeniously developed at Mahindra Research Valley located in Chennai.
Veejay Nakra, President of Farm Equipment Business at Mahindra & Mahindra, remarked, "Mahindra is dedicated to spearheading India’s transition to alternative fuel technologies, driving cleaner, smarter, and sustainable farming solutions. Our participation at Agrovision 2025 emphasizes this commitment as we present innovative tractors and technologies that will shape the future of Indian agriculture, in line with the Government of India’s ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070."
The showcased tractors included Mahindra’s CNG and Compressed Biogas (CBG) models, designed to enhance operational efficiency while making farming more cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
Additionally, Mahindra introduced its electric tractor, which symbolizes a significant step towards sustainable agriculture by merging zero-emission technology with superior performance and efficiency. This electric tractor aims to lower operating costs and reduce environmental impacts, providing farmers with a smooth, powerful, and dependable experience, featuring instant torque and consistent performance, according to company statements.
