Israeli Prime Minister to Undergo Prostate Surgery

Jerusalem, Dec 29 (NationPress) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to undergo prostate removal surgery this coming Sunday, as confirmed by his office in an official statement.
The announcement made on Saturday indicated that on Wednesday, Netanyahu had a medical examination at Hadassah Medical Centre in Jerusalem, where a urinary tract infection was identified, attributed to a benign prostate enlargement, according to Xinhua news agency.
Following this diagnosis, the Prime Minister received antibiotic treatment, which has successfully cleared the infection.
Despite the impending procedure, the Prime Minister's office announced that the Israeli Cabinet's regular weekly meeting will take place as planned on Sunday.
Earlier in the year, Netanyahu had a hernia surgery in March under general anesthesia, during which Yariv Levin, Israel's Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister, temporarily took over the Prime Minister’s duties.
In July 2023, Netanyahu was hospitalized for a pacemaker implant after experiencing arrhythmia, occurring just a week after he faced dehydration.
This situation sparked significant concern among the public regarding the Prime Minister's health and the extent to which information had been withheld.
A medical assessment released in January stated that Netanyahu was in a completely normal state of health, with his pacemaker functioning properly, and no signs of heart arrhythmia or other health issues.
Although there are protocols mandating Prime Ministers to publish an annual health report, Netanyahu has not done so from 2016 to late 2023.
He could not be compelled by law to disclose his health status, as these protocols, set by the Prime Minister's Office, lack legal standing.
This recent health issue arises in the same week that Israel launched a series of airstrikes on regions in Yemen controlled by the Houthis, in response to a wave of missile attacks by the Iranian-backed faction. Following Israel's military actions, which included a strike on the international airport in Sana, the Houthis have persisted in launching rockets at Israel.
Israel has been entangled in conflicts on numerous fronts since the Hamas-led terror assault on October 7, 2023, engaging in battles with the Palestinian group in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, while also targeting locations in Syria and exchanging fire with Iran.
