John Dramani Mahama Takes Office as President of Ghana

Accra, Jan 8 (NationPress) The newly elected President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has been sworn in after a successful campaign in the presidential elections held in December of the previous year.
A significant assembly of Ghanaians from various backgrounds, along with supporters of the political party, congregated at the Black Star Square in Accra, the capital of the nation, to partake in the ceremonial event.
This ceremony, which took place on Tuesday, was graced by several African leaders and various international dignitaries, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.
During the inauguration, Mahama expressed that this event signifies a pivotal moment in Ghana's narrative and offers a unique chance to rejuvenate the country in multiple aspects.
"We have endured significant economic challenges as we have transitioned from one crisis to another in recent times. Yet, there is optimism ahead, and today symbolizes the start of a new chance, a chance to reimagine our governance and economic frameworks. Together, we can rejuvenate our cherished nation," Mahama stated.
He committed that his administration would tackle the issue of youth unemployment by cultivating robust collaborations with the private sector to generate respectable and lucrative job opportunities.
"In this overwhelming triumph, I interpret a clear message, especially from the youth of Ghana, indicating that your voices are significant and that prioritizing your future is essential," he added.
Brought into the world in 1958 in the Savannah region of Ghana, Mahama previously held the presidential office from 2012 until 2017.
Last month, following his electoral success that signals his return to the presidency, the Ghanaian leader delineated 26 principal policies intended for implementation within his first 120 days of governance.
In a document titled "Mahama's First 120 Days: A Social Contract with the People of Ghana", the newly inaugurated president disclosed his strategy to propose all cabinet ministers within 14 days of taking office for ratification and to establish "the leanest government" within the initial three months.
