Amman, February 11 (NationPress) Jordan announced that a convoy with over 4,000 tents has successfully reached Gaza to assist families who have been displaced due to the escalating humanitarian crisis from the ongoing conflict.
The aid was dispatched by the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) as part of Jordan's initiative to aid Palestinians facing extreme hardships, as stated in a release from the organization on Monday.
The JHCO expressed its commitment to continuously offer vital support and assistance to the residents of Gaza during these trying times, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
The organization highlighted that this aid is a testament to Jordan's unwavering dedication to stand by the people of Gaza through an ongoing land bridge that facilitates the delivery of crucial relief and humanitarian supplies.
Furthermore, the JHCO reaffirmed that its humanitarian convoys will persist, motivated by the moral and fraternal responsibility to furnish essential aid to the people of Gaza amidst the current crisis.
On February 3, the Higher Committee for Reconstruction in Palestine supplied 4,500 tents to JHCO for dispatch to the conflict-stricken Gaza Strip.
This committee, established by the Jordanian Engineers and Contractors Association, has initiated a campaign to assist those in Gaza.
Committee head Ahmad Zo'ubi stated that an additional 3,500 tents will be sent to the JHCO next week along with another 4,000 tents from China within this month, culminating in a total of 12,000 tents.
He emphasized that these initiatives are part of the committee's dedication to bolstering the resilience of the Gaza populace and alleviating their extensive suffering, in collaboration with various official and charitable organizations to ensure prompt aid delivery.
To date, Jordan has dispatched 24,891 tents to assist displaced individuals, including 11,000 tents delivered since the recent humanitarian truce commenced.
Jordan, through the JHCO, has been persistently providing relief supplies such as shelter materials, clothing, and other necessities over the recent months to ease the plight of Gaza's residents.
As of now, Jordan has sent 152 aid convoys, comprising 5,992 trucks that have transported over 100,000 tons of humanitarian aid, which includes food, shelter, and medical supplies.
