Almaty, Feb 7 (NationPress) Kazakhstan and Georgia are concentrating on increasing cargo volumes along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, known as the Middle Corridor, while enhancing its transit infrastructure, as stated by the Kazakh Presidential press service.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Georgia's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze discussed opportunities for bilateral collaboration, international agenda matters, and regional security during a meeting in Astana on Thursday.

President Tokayev remarked, “Kazakhstan and Georgia collaborate effectively at various levels, including between parliaments, governments, and state agencies,” as cited in the statement.

Tokayev acknowledged Georgia's significant advancements in recent years, highlighting the notable outcomes of ongoing reforms and an impressive 9.4 percent economic growth rate.

He also commended the comprehensive development of bilateral relations, referring to Georgia as a trustworthy partner of Kazakhstan in the Caucasus region.

“Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Irakli Kobakhidze focused on enhancing cargo transport volumes along the Trans-Caspian international transport route and modernizing the transit corridor infrastructure. The meeting explored prospects for strengthening bilateral ties across numerous sectors, including trade, energy, investment, tourism, artificial intelligence, and digitalization. They also addressed current international agenda issues and regional security,” the statement elaborated.

Prime Minister Kobakhidze mentioned that Kazakhstan was among the first nations he visited after assuming office, expressing Georgia's firm commitment to the fruitful development of diverse relations with Kazakhstan, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

“Enhancing political and economic cooperation is crucial for us. We are prepared to actively advocate for Kazakhstan's interests across various platforms, including multilateral ones,” Kobakhidze stated.

The Georgian Prime Minister also extended an invitation to Tokayev to visit Georgia.

Both leaders discussed prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation in a wide array of sectors, including trade, energy, investment, tourism, artificial intelligence, and digitalization, along with current international agenda issues and regional security, as per the statement.
