According to spokesperson Asif Hassan of the Lakki Marwat District Police, a Tajori police mobile was the target of the suicide blast, and the deceased has been identified as head constable Alauddin. In the past year, Pakistan has experienced a surge in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, after the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) called off its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.
On November 24, an armed attack on a Pakistani security forces vehicle in Domel town of Bannu district left a soldier injured. The injured soldier was quickly transported to a hospital in Bannu cantonment, and security forces initiated a joint search operation in the area, resulting in casualties among several 'terrorists'.
Earlier on November 8, another police official was injured when unidentified assailants targeted a checkpost in the Tangi area of Khar tehsil, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The injured officer was identified as Azad Khan, who was hit by gunfire from an unknown location.
Meanwhile, the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), based in Islamabad, has released a recent security report indicating that Pakistan has seen an over 46 percent increase in overall violence for the third quarter of 2025.
The report highlights that there were at least 901 fatalities and 599 injuries among civilians, security personnel, and outlaws due to 329 incidents of violence, including terror attacks and counter-terror operations.
In the first three quarters of 2024, Pakistan recorded 1,527 fatalities. The total fatalities rose to 2,414 during the same period, marking a 58 percent increase in violence. Notably, 505 deaths were attributed to security operations in 2024, whereas 1,022 fatalities were linked to terror attacks.
The report further states, 'In 2025, security operations accounted for 1,265 deaths – over half of total fatalities. This shift highlights the intensified response from the state, with security forces inflicting heavier losses on militants.'
The CRSS report indicates that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan accounted for over 96 percent of the violence in this quarter, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa being the most affected region, suffering nearly 71 percent (638) of total violence-linked fatalities, along with over 67 percent (221) of violence incidents. Balochistan followed, with more than 25 percent of fatalities (230) and incidents (85). Fatalities and violent incidents in other regions remained relatively low.
