Islamabad, Dec 31 (NationPress) At least eight individuals sustained injuries from a bomb explosion that struck a police vehicle in Bannu district located in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan on Tuesday, as reported by police.

According to local police, the explosion from a roadside bomb occurred while the vehicle was on patrol in the Sorangi area of the district, injuring eight people.

In response to the incident, police, security personnel, and rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene and transported the injured to a nearby medical facility.

Among those injured were one police officer and four constables, as detailed by police sources.

Reports from the bomb disposal unit indicate that an improvised explosive device had been placed on the roadside and was detonated remotely.

In the aftermath, security forces and police established a perimeter around the site and commenced a search for the individuals responsible.

As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to Xinhua news agency.

This year, at least 383 security personnel and 925 terrorists have been killed in 59,775 operations carried out across Pakistan, as stated by a senior officer in the Pakistan army on Friday.

During these operations, 73 high-value targets associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and other militant organizations were neutralized, reported Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), at a press briefing.

He noted that this year marks the highest number of terrorists neutralized within the last five years.

The Pakistan army has conducted more than 179 operations daily in collaboration with law enforcement and intelligence agencies throughout the year, as mentioned by the ISPR chief.

Moreover, the military's operations have extended to address issues such as smuggling, drug trafficking, electricity theft, and hoarding.

He emphasized, "The army and law enforcement agencies combat terrorism, but the entire nation unites against it," highlighting the solidarity among all sectors of society and political factions on this critical issue.
