Maritime Incident Occurs Near Aden, Yemen

Aden, Yemen, Dec 1 (NationPress) The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has announced a maritime incident taking place around 80 nautical miles south of the port city of Aden on Sunday.

According to a statement from the UKMTO shared on the social media platform X, authorities are currently looking into the incident.

Initial reports suggest that the Houthi group may have targeted a merchant vessel, as indicated by officials from the Yemeni government.

Details regarding the specific vessel that was attacked have not been disclosed.

Since November 2023, the Houthi group has been conducting rocket and drone assaults on Israel and has disrupted shipping linked to Israel in the Red Sea, purportedly to express solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amidst the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In reaction, a US-British naval coalition deployed in the area has been executing regular airstrikes and missile assaults against Houthi positions since January to counter the group's actions.
