Houthi Forces Assert Rocket Strikes on Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and U.S. Warship

Sanaa, Dec 31 (NationPress) The Houthi forces in Yemen have reportedly launched rockets during the night aimed at Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and a U.S. aircraft carrier, according to a statement made by the group's spokesperson on Tuesday.

Yahya Sarea, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, announced that the initial operation targeted Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv using a hypersonic ballistic missile. He further explained that the second operation focused on a power facility located south of Jerusalem, which was also struck by a ballistic missile.

Reports from Israeli media indicated that the two rockets, which were launched from Yemen, were intercepted above the cities of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, with footage displaying debris scattered across the streets.

The Houthi military spokesperson also claimed that the group successfully conducted overnight rocket and drone assaults on the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman.

Late on Monday, a coalition led by the U.S. executed two airstrikes on Houthi positions in the At-Tuhayta district of southern Hodeidah province, according to reports from Houthi-operated al-Masirah TV.

As of now, there has been no comment from the U.S. regarding these events, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

The Houthi group, which dominates much of northern Yemen, has been actively conducting rocket and drone assaults against Israel and disrupting shipping linked to Israel in the Red Sea since November 2023, in a show of support for Palestinians amidst the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

Recently, the Houthis have escalated their attacks on U.S. military assets in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

On the same night, reports from Houthi media suggested that a U.S.-British naval coalition executed two airstrikes on the Hodeidah province in Yemen, specifically targeting the At-Tuhayta district in the southwestern area.

Details were sparse in the report, but local residents mentioned on social media that they felt two strong explosions.

Typically, the U.S. Central Command issues statements confirming any airstrikes conducted by its forces, but they have yet to comment on these incidents.

The Houthi group has maintained a pattern of launching rocket and drone strikes against Israel and disrupting shipping in the Red Sea since November 2023, emphasizing their solidarity with the Palestinian cause during the current Israel-Hamas conflict, as reported by Xinhua news agency, referencing al-Masirah TV.

Earlier, on December 27, the coalition targeted the Houthi-controlled capital of Sanaa with an airstrike that hit the 1st Armor Division located in the city.

This particular airstrike created a significant disturbance throughout the city, and emergency vehicles were heard responding to the site.

The recent airstrike followed a series of Israeli attacks on December 26, which focused on various Houthi sites in Yemen, including an airport, two power stations, and several ports. This Israeli offensive, which marks the fourth of the year, resulted in at least 6 fatalities and 40 injuries, according to reports from Houthi television.
