Sanaa, March 26 (NationPress) The Houthi faction in Yemen announced on Wednesday that it had initiated new strikes against a US aircraft carrier located in the Red Sea, as well as against military sites in the Israeli metropolis of Tel Aviv.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea declared, “Our forces executed missile and drone assaults in the last few hours, directing fire at American naval vessels in the Red Sea, specifically the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier, from which aggression towards our nation is launched,” as reported by Houthi-controlled al-Masirah TV.

He added, “The confrontation persisted for several hours,” and emphasized their commitment to retaliate against the ongoing US airstrikes targeting Houthi-held regions in northern Yemen.

As of now, there has been no response from the US military, according to Xinhua.

Additionally, the Houthi military spokesperson indicated that they had conducted a recent offensive against Israel within the last few hours.

In a statement, he said, “In solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza, we struck military objectives in Tel Aviv using multiple drones,” and pledged to persist in targeting Israeli cities and vessels linked to Israel in the Red Sea until “the war on Gaza ceases.”

Late Tuesday, al-Masirah TV reported that seven US airstrikes targeted the Saada province, which is the Houthi's main base in northern Yemen. Fortunately, there were no reports of casualties.

This airstrike operation is part of a sustained US campaign against Houthi-controlled regions in Yemen, which commenced in mid-March.

On March 23, US forces stationed in the Red Sea reportedly conducted airstrikes aimed at Yemen’s northern province of Saada, as per reports from al-Masirah TV.

The strikes focused on areas surrounding the province's central city, Saada, a stronghold for the Houthis, with no further specifics provided.

These airstrikes followed Houthi claims made a few hours prior, asserting that they had launched new attacks on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the northern Red Sea and on Ben Gurion airport in central Israel, although the latter was reportedly intercepted by the Israeli military.

These exchanges of fire are occurring amidst an ongoing air campaign initiated by US forces in mid-March against territories under Houthi control in Yemen. The Houthi faction, which has maintained dominance in much of northern Yemen since the civil war began in 2014, has pledged to continue its assaults on Israeli targets in support of Palestinians in Gaza, as part of their response to what they term “American aggression.”
