Sanaa, March 18 (NationPress) The Houthi group from Yemen has launched an attack on a US aircraft carrier in the northern Red Sea for the third instance in just 48 hours. This announcement coincides with new airstrikes executed by the US military on the Houthi-controlled capital, Sanaa, as reported on Tuesday.
According to Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea, the group targeted the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier using two cruise missiles and two drones. This statement was broadcast on Houthi-operated al-Masirah TV.
Additionally, Sarea noted another assault where they launched a cruise missile along with four drones aimed at an American destroyer located in the Red Sea.
He reiterated that the Houthi group will persist in targeting all hostile entities in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea until the attacks on their nation cease. This follows ongoing airstrikes by the US on Houthi locations, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
On Monday, the US military executed new airstrikes targeting various sites in and around Sanaa, as well as the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, according to al-Masirah TV.
In the last two days, numerous military installations and residential areas have been bombed by US fighter jets across Sanaa and other northern and western regions under Houthi control.
US President Donald Trump has committed to continuing air assaults until the Houthis cease their attacks on international shipping lanes and vessels.
Last week, the Houthi faction declared its intention to resume offensive actions against any Israeli ships in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait until humanitarian access is restored to the Gaza Strip.
Since November 2023, the Houthi group has engaged in numerous drone and rocket strikes against vessels linked to Israel and Israeli cities, expressing solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing violence in Gaza. The scope of these attacks later broadened to encompass US and British ships after the US-British navy coalition intervened with air raids and missile strikes targeting Houthi positions.
