Sanaa, April 8 (NationPress) The Houthi group from Yemen has declared that it executed a drone strike on a military site in Tel Aviv, Israel, and targeted two US warships in the Red Sea with cruise missiles.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea stated in a televised announcement on Houthi-operated al-Masirah TV, "We have conducted an operation against a military target in Tel Aviv using a Jaffa drone."

Sarea further elaborated, "Our naval and air units also carried out a coordinated military operation against two US destroyers in the Red Sea, utilizing several cruise missiles and drones."

He emphasized that the assaults on US warships were a reaction to the persistent US aggression and atrocities inflicted on the Yemeni population, specifically mentioning recent US airstrikes on a residence in Sanaa that resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals and injuries to over 20, including 11 women and children, according to Xinhua news agency.

Sarea affirmed that the US attacks would not dissuade the Houthi group from backing the Palestinian people, asserting that their operations would continue until the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip halts and the blockade is lifted.

Escalating tensions have been noted between the Houthi group and the United States since March 15, when US military forces resumed airstrikes targeting Houthi positions to thwart potential assaults on naval and commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

The Houthis frequently assert that their strikes are retaliation for US airstrikes in Yemen and aim to compel the US-backed Israel to cease its offensive in Gaza and permit humanitarian aid into the besieged Palestinian territory.
