Sanaa, Jan 18 (NationPress) Yemen's Houthi group announced that it executed a series of rocket and drone attacks targeting three Israeli cities, alongside a new assault on the US aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman situated in the Red Sea.

In a statement broadcast by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV, military spokesperson Yahya Sarea declared, "In retaliation for the recent atrocities against our brothers in Gaza, we initiated a military operation aimed at crucial targets in the Israeli southern port city of Eilat, employing four cruise missiles."

He further mentioned that additional significant targets in Tel Aviv and Ashkelon were struck, marking the seventh assault on the US aircraft carrier since its deployment in the northern Red Sea, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

"We reaffirm our preparedness for any potential developments or escalations from the US or Israel against our nation and will continue to observe the situation in Gaza, implementing appropriate measures if the enemy (Israel) violates the ceasefire or engages in further attacks on the Palestinian populace in Gaza," Sarea stated.

He emphasized that the group would persist in supporting Hamas until the Israeli presence is eradicated from all of Palestine.

Following this declaration, al-Masirah TV reported that these attacks were executed earlier today before dawn.

At dawn, Houthi television indicated that US naval forces executed five airstrikes in the Red Sea, targeting a Houthi military installation in the Harf Sufyan district of Amran province, north of the Houthi-controlled capital, Sanaa.

The US military has yet to comment on these incidents.

These assaults on Israeli cities and the US aircraft carrier occurred just hours after group leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi stated on Thursday night that his faction "will persist" in launching rocket attacks against Israeli cities should Israeli forces continue their strikes on the Gaza Strip prior to the establishment of the declared Gaza ceasefire agreement.

The long-anticipated truce agreement between Hamas and Israel was finalized in Doha on Wednesday.
