Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jerusalem, Feb 26 (NationPress) Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, expressed immense appreciation for India on Thursday, recounting a personal story about his initial date with Sara (who is now his wife) at an Indian restaurant in Tel Aviv.
During a joint press conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi after their discussions in Jerusalem, Netanyahu stated: "At the conclusion of this visit, I must confess that I owe India a significant personal debt. When I first met Sara, our inaugural date took place in an Indian restaurant in Tel Aviv..."
"I must emphasize, the food was outstanding, and it was Sara's first experience with Indian cuisine. Thus, it was a remarkable first date... Not only was the meal exquisite, but the date itself was exceptional as well. Therefore, I am grateful to you, as are my children, and I want to express how sincerely we cherish both our personal relationship and the bond between our governments and our peoples. May this connection continue to grow and strengthen, as I am confident it will as a result of this visit," Netanyahu added.
The Israeli Prime Minister described PM Modi's visit as brief yet "incredible, extraordinarily fruitful, and deeply moving." He commended PM Modi for his address to the Israeli Parliament, Knesset.
"This visit has been remarkable. A fantastic conclusion to an extraordinary visit. Though it was short, it was extremely productive and moving. I believe there wasn’t a dry eye in Israel after your heartfelt statement in the Knesset yesterday. Since that moment, we had the chance to delve deep into both our hearts and the remarkable intellect that our nations possess. We explored an exhibit of innovation that ignites imagination beyond measure. We discussed collaboration with the exceptionally talented people of India and our nation, which we are transforming into concrete plans," Netanyahu remarked.
Netanyahu mentioned that both nations have agreed to conduct a G2G meeting, which he believes will substantially enhance the immense benefits that both countries can bring to one another and to humanity in general. He also lauded PM Modi-led Indian government, calling it "incredibly efficient."
"We have decided to hold a G2G meeting in India. As soon as arrangements are made, we would like to bring the distinguished ministers who are present here. I must compliment my friend Narendra; you lead an incredibly efficient government. What you can achieve with one minister and one ambassador...", Netanyahu expressed.
With both nations focused on innovation, he stated that Israel and India are "proud ancient civilizations" eager to embrace the future.
"When you speak of precision agriculture, it signifies you do not water an entire field uniformly. Instead, you target a specific portion. Why not target a specific student's mind when we discuss precision education? We now possess the software and AI to reach every young student, be it a boy or girl, enabling them to realize their full potential. The constraints that previously held us back no longer apply. The future belongs to those who innovate. Israel and India are committed to innovation. We take pride in our ancient civilizations and are determined to seize the future together," he concluded.
PM Modi is currently undertaking a two-day State Visit to Israel. He received a warm welcome from Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu, in Tel Aviv on Wednesday. Later, he addressed a Special Plenary of the Knesset in Jerusalem, marking the first such address by an Indian Prime Minister at the Israeli parliament.
