His remarks were a reaction to PM Modi's post on X, where he indicated that the two leaders discussed strategies to bolster the strategic alliance between their countries. They also addressed regional and global concerns of mutual significance.
In his message on X, PM Modi expressed, "It was a pleasure to converse with my friend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and to share New Year greetings with him and the people of Israel. We talked about how to enhance the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in the upcoming year."
"We also shared perspectives on the regional landscape and reaffirmed our joint commitment to combat terrorism with increased fervor," he added.
During their conversation, Netanyahu informed PM Modi about the progress of the Gaza Peace Plan, as per a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). PM Modi reiterated India’s unwavering support for initiatives aimed at achieving a fair and lasting peace in the region.
According to the announcement from Israel's Prime Minister's Office, PM Modi and Netanyahu explored the robust nature of their bilateral relations and how these can be leveraged for the advantage of both nations' populations.
"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: Today, I had a productive discussion focused on enhancing our nations' security with my esteemed friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi," stated the Israeli Prime Minister's Office on X.
"We talked about the strength of India-Israel relations and the immense potential of our alliance for the benefit of our peoples. I eagerly anticipate meeting Prime Minister Modi soon to continue these discussions face-to-face," it added.
In December, PM Modi received a call from Netanyahu, during which they exchanged opinions regarding the situation in West Asia. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership and their shared stance against terrorism.
"I conversed with my friend Prime Minister Netanyahu. We reviewed the progress in the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and agreed on enhancing our collaboration. We also reaffirmed our mutual commitment to a zero-tolerance policy for terrorism. India supports all initiatives aimed at securing a just and lasting peace in the region," PM Modi posted on X.
