Jerusalem, February 26 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Thursday that the bond between India and Israel has proven resilient through various challenges, grounded in profound mutual trust, shared democratic principles, and a robust base of human empathy.
During a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after signing multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), PM Modi declared that both nations have made a "historic decision" to upgrade their enduring partnership to a 'Special Strategic Partnership'.
As the two nations agreed to infuse new energy into their bilateral relations, PM Modi emphasized that economic collaboration has evolved into a driving force for growth, innovation, and shared prosperity.
"Friends, in today’s discussions, we explored avenues to direct our cooperation more effectively and accelerate its pace. Our economic partnership has become a catalyst for growth, innovation, and mutual prosperity. Last year, we formalized a bilateral investment agreement, and we are on the verge of finalizing a Free Trade Agreement that will be advantageous for both sides," PM Modi remarked.
He also pointed out the extensive and fruitful history of agricultural collaboration between the two countries.
"Today, we have committed to steering this cooperation into the future. The Centres of Excellence established in India with support from Israel exemplify our friendship. Given their success, we have resolved to increase their number to 100," he stated.
"We have agreed to create a Critical and Emerging Technology Partnership to enhance collaboration in fields like AI, Quantum Computing, and Critical Minerals. I am delighted that an agreement for utilizing UPI in Israel has been established," he added.
Expressing his sincere gratitude to PM Netanyahu for the warm reception, PM Modi reflected that returning to the "historic land" of Israel after nine years is a moment filled with pride and profound emotion for him.
"Nine years ago, I had the honor of being the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Israel. Stepping onto this historic land once more is a moment of pride and deep emotion. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak before the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, and I was honored with the Speaker of the Knesset Medal. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Knesset Speaker, my friend PM Netanyahu, and the people of Israel for this recognition," he added.
Reaffirming India’s position on the Gaza conflict, PM Modi stated that humanity should never be a casualty of conflict.
"A path to peace has been outlined through the Gaza Peace Plan, which India fully supports. We will continue our dialogue and cooperation with all nations in the future," he stated.
He emphasized that both nations are united in their stance against terrorism.
"Terrorism has no place in the world. In any form, it cannot be tolerated. We have stood shoulder-to-shoulder in the fight against terrorism and its backers, and we will persist in this commitment," PM Modi remarked.
