New Delhi, Dec 10 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a phone conversation with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday, where they shared insights regarding the circumstances in West Asia.
During their discussions, the two leaders explored avenues to enhance the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism.
A press release from the Prime Minister’s office noted, “PM Modi reaffirmed India’s backing for initiatives aimed at achieving a fair and lasting peace in the region.”
Both leaders expressed their pleasure at the ongoing progress in the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and reiterated their dedication to fortifying these bilateral ties for shared advantages.
“They condemned terrorism in strong terms and reiterated their zero-tolerance stance against all forms of terrorism,” stated the PMO.
“Additionally, they exchanged views on the situation in West Asia. PM Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting efforts towards a just and sustainable peace in the region, including the prompt execution of the Gaza Peace Plan,” the statement mentioned.
The two leaders agreed to maintain their communication.
Last month, PM Netanyahu once again postponed his trip to India, which was initially planned for later this year, to meet with PM Modi. This delay was due to security concerns following a deadly terrorist attack in New Delhi on November 10.
Reports earlier indicated that Netanyahu intended to visit India before year-end.
This marks the third time this year that the Israeli leader has called off a scheduled visit to India.
Previously, Netanyahu cancelled a one-day visit to India on September 9, attributing it to scheduling conflicts caused by unprecedented repeat elections in Israel on September 17. He had also cancelled earlier due to the April elections.
The last visit by PM Netanyahu to India occurred back in January 2018, while PM Modi visited Tel Aviv in 2017, making history as the first Indian prime minister to visit the Jewish state.
