Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Tel Aviv, March 6 (NationPress) David Mencer, spokesperson for the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, expressed admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and the strong bond he shares with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, emphasizing their united stance of zero tolerance towards terrorism.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Mencer reflected on PM Modi's recent and highly successful two-day visit to Israel, highlighting his historic speech at the Knesset where he declared that 1.5 billion Indians support Israel in its battle against terrorist threats.
"I had the honor of accompanying our Prime Minister (Netanyahu) when we welcomed Prime Minister Modi just days ago. The emotions were palpable as we greeted him at the airport for his two-day visit. There was hardly a dry eye when Prime Minister Modi spoke to our Knesset, showcasing his leadership and understanding. Both leaders recognize that a zero-tolerance approach to terrorism is essential. Yielding to terrorists only escalates conflict. It is vital to confront and defeat terrorist states, and that is precisely our objective," Mencer conveyed to IANS.
During last week's State Visit, PM Modi received a grand reception from Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu, upon arrival in Tel Aviv. His agenda included addressing lawmakers in the Knesset and engaging in discussions with Netanyahu and Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
"Prime Minister Modi's visit was incredibly successful. His declaration in the Knesset of 'Am Yisrael Chai' will remain etched in my memory, symbolizing that the 'people of Israel live.' While some in the international media may misrepresent Israel as isolated, we maintain strong partnerships with the US and many nations," Mencer noted.
"Moreover, Prime Minister Modi's affirmation that 1.5 billion Indians stand with us against terrorism is a powerful message. Both PM Modi and PM Netanyahu share a mutual understanding that zero tolerance towards terrorism fosters success. Compromising with terrorists only leads to further conflict. Together with President Trump, both leaders advocate for peace through strength. Strength must precede peace, and we are witnessing this principle in action now," the spokesperson elaborated.
In his Knesset address, PM Modi emphasized India's unwavering support for Israel in combating terrorism. He stated, "I bring with me the heartfelt condolences of the Indian people for every life lost and every family affected by the barbaric terrorist assault by Hamas on October 7. We empathize with your suffering. India stands resolutely with Israel during this challenging time and beyond. There can be no justification for the murder of innocents. Nothing can condone terrorism. India has also faced the agony of terrorism for an extended period."
