The centre is located at 1015 2nd Avenue, Suite 804, Seattle, WA 98104, and is now situated alongside the Indian Consulate in Seattle, according to an official announcement made on Tuesday (local time).
Authorities indicated that this initiative is designed to facilitate easier access to services for Indian nationals and other applicants in the area.
The inauguration of the visa application centre saw the attendance of various government and non-government dignitaries, with over 300 members of the Indian American community from Seattle and surrounding states present at the ceremony.
The Seattle centre will serve as a single point of access for a variety of services, including applications for Indian visas, passports, Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI), renunciation of Indian citizenship, Police Clearance Certificates, the Global Entry Programme (GEP), and other miscellaneous and attestation services.
According to the Indian Consulate in Seattle, the co-location of the Indian Consular Application Centre with the Consulate in the Federal Reserve Building is anticipated to enhance operational efficiency and provide a comprehensive facility for applicants to submit their applications and address queries.
VFS Global, which manages outsourced consular services for India in the United States, noted that this new centre is part of a larger initiative to simplify the application process and improve service delivery.
Numerous applicant-centric improvements have been implemented under the expanded network. The centres will now be open on Saturdays, and return courier services are included in the standard service fees. Additional services such as photographs, photocopies, and form-filling are available at no extra charge within the centre.
The Seattle facility has been equipped with modern infrastructure aimed at ensuring a secure and efficient application experience, prioritizing customer convenience, as stated by the company.
During the launch, Amit Kumar Sharma, Head – North America and Caribbean at VFS Global, remarked: "Seattle and the broader Pacific Northwest region boast a dynamic and expanding Indian diaspora. The establishment of this Indian Consular Application Centre embodies the Government of India's commitment to making consular services more accessible and focused on citizens' needs."
